Ron Blue interviews Tom Nelson, author of Work Matters and pastor of Christ Community Church in Leawood, Kansas, on the topic of vocational stewardship. Nelson says, “I believe how we view our work and how we do our work matters a great deal more than we might imagine. Yet when it comes to this important area of my life, particularly how my work connects to my Christian faith, I must confess I have often found myself in a thick fog.” During their conversation, Ron and Tom will seek to clear some of the fog around this topic by exploring a biblical view of work and by exploring how work can be a transformational force in the world at large. Tom Nelson
Christ Community ChurchDr. Tom Nelson graduated with a Masters of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and received his doctorate from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife Liz arrived in Kansas City in 1989 to begin Christ Community Church. Tom has served as senior pastor there since that time. Tom received his ordination with the EFCA in 1992. He has served on the Midwest District Board as well as the National Ministerial Association Board. Currently he serves on the board of Regents of Trinity International University as well as the Leadership Team of The Oikonomia Network. Tom is the author of Five Smooth Stones: Discovering the Path to Wholeness of Soul, Ekklesia: Rediscovering God’s Design for the Church, and Work Matters: Connecting Sunday Worship to Monday Work. He is a conference speaker who calls the evangelical community to walk deeply and authentically with God. Tom has two grown children and has been married to his wife Liz for thirty years.
