In this Kingdom Advisors Study Group, we hear from Dr. Amy Sherman, author of Kingdom Calling, a book that explores the idea of vocational stewardship for the common good. Dr. Sherman’s research and study has given her access to many stories of people who are using their workplace as a way to advance Kingdom purposes. As Kingdom Advisors, you are uniquely positioned to speak into clients’ lives about how their work can serve as platforms for renewal in their community and in the world at large. By understanding the various dimensions of vocational power and by knowing how to frame this conversation with both Christian and non-Christian clients, you will be equipped to cast a vision for embracing business as mission. In this Study Group, Dr. Sherman broadens our understanding of vocational stewardship and equips us to confidently discuss this topic with our clients.
Dr. Amy Sherman is the author of seven books including Kingdom Calling: Vocational Stewardship for the Common Good. Her most recent book is Agents of Flourishing: Pursuing Shalom in Every Corner of Society. Amy has a deep interest in kingdom investing and writes regularly for the Eventide Center for Faith & Investing. She is a Senior Fellow at the Sagamore Institute, where she directs the Center on Faith in Communities which assists congregations and nonprofit ministries in effectively advancing mercy and justice in their communities. Dr. Sherman also serves as Senior Advisor to Made to Flourish, a national network of congregational leaders seeking to integrate faith, work, and economic wisdom.
