In this TED ex talk, real estate developer and primary spokesperson for Halftime Institute, Lloyd Reeb, dismisses the idea that as we age we become less productive in life. Through personal and engaging stories, Lloyd lays out two surprising things that help us keep and stay productive as we become older: passion and intimacy. He shares about the process of "mid life renewal" and discusses the implications of this renewal for both the first and second halves of a person's adult life. He shares new learnings about the second half of life, such as the fact that the second half can be more productive than the first and the fact that people in their second half come to value deep, intimate relationships more than just accomplishments.
Lloyd Reeb is a successful real estate developer who made a Halftime® transition in 1993 by redefining success and re-orienting his focus toward second-half significance. His book, From Success to Significance - When the Pursuit of Success Isn't Enough, is a roadmap for mid-life transition. Lloyd is the primary spokesperson for the Halftime movement, helping successful people pursue significance. For more than 15 years, he has dedicated most of his time to speaking about Halftime issues, leading Success to Significance workshops across the country and coaching many individuals in mid-life transition. Lloyd lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife, Linda, and has three adult children.
