Materialism
In session three of the Theology of Money course, Alcorn looks deeply at the topic of materialism as taught in scripture. He begins by examining the nature of materialism and then explores the specific dangers of materialism. Materialism in the Church is revealed by the stories of Jesus and the moneychangers in the temple and by the story of Simon, a man who wanted to pay to receive the Spirit, in Acts 8. Finally, Alcorn begins an in depth look at prosperity theology by looking at prosperity in the Old Testament and by looking at Jesus’ teaching on the subject.
