There are essentially only three reasons people object to BRI: 1) They don’t believe they’re morally responsible for the actions of the companies in their portfolios, 2) They don’t believe their investment dollars make an appreciable difference in the world, and/or 3) They believe BRI will cause them to underperform. This session examines the validity of each of these objections head-on. This session is presented by Finny Kuruvilla, MD, PhD, the Harvard-educated lead portfolio manager for the Eventide Gilead Fund, a Morningstar Five-Star fund.
Finny Kuruvilla, MD, PhD, serves as co-Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager for Eventide. Dr. Kuruvilla has a unique background in healthcare, statistics, and investing. Concurrent with Eventide, from 2008 through 2016, he was a Principal at Clarus Ventures, a leading healthcare and life sciences venture capital firm. Prior to joining Eventide, from 2005-2008, he was a postdoctoral research scientist in medical genetics at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. From 2003-2007, he was resident, chief resident, and clinical fellow at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston.
