Ron Blue interacts with Jeff Shinabarger about Jeff’s intentional decision to move from “more” to “less” as he and his family moved into urban Atlanta while Jeff transitioned from his position as Brand Manager at Catalyst and co-founder of the Q event to live out a call to help social entrepreneurs in Atlanta invest in change on behalf of the city. During the interview, Ron and Jeff talk about answering the “how much is enough?” question and then living out the answer to that question in very real ways. The discussion is helpful as you consider how to help clients answer significant lifestyle questions about stewardship, simplicity, and sacrifice. You will be encouraged by Jeff’s story and by the insights he provides.
Jeff Shinabarger is a social entrepreneur dedicated to developing innovative ways to use the excess of an affluent society to meet urgent needs, locally and globally. He is passionate about communicating the needs of the impoverished and connecting them with the privileged in our culture to determine what is enough in all of life. Founder of Plywood People, Shinabarger has been featured in national media such as CNN, NPR, and Relevant Magazine and has been interviewed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Chicago Sun-Times, among others. He is the co-founder of the Q event and spent three years as Brand Manager at Catalyst, the Next Generation Leadership Conference. He lives in East Atlanta Village with his wife, Andre, daughter, Jada, son, Neko, and boxer, Max.
