Retirement doesn’t look like it did 30 years ago, and it will look even more different 30 years from now. Do you need to be asking yourself – and your clients – different questions? Helping clients prepare for retirement might involve some adjustments in the questions we ask and the discussions we lead. Jeff Haanen, executive director of the Denver Institute for Faith and Work presents his perspective on work before and after retirement.
Jeff Haanen is the Founder of Denver Institute for Faith & Work, an educational organization that creates content and experiences around topics related to faith, work, and modern culture. Jeff writes for publications such as Christianity Today and Comment magazine on a variety of topics, ranging from finance to emotionally healthy leadership to workforce development. He’s the author of An Uncommon Guide to Retirement: Finding God’s Purpose for the Next Season of Life as well as the forthcoming books From the Inside Out: A Brief Guide to Finding God’s Purpose for Your Work (IVP, 2023) and God of the Second Shift: Vocation, the Working Class, and the Power of the Gospel to Heal the Growing Divides in America (IVP, 2025).
